This Sunday , Field Temple will host its third annual Solstice Spiral, a chance to quietly and simply mark the turning of the year. A solstice spiral works like this- When you are ready you walk the spiral, made of straw bales, carrying an unlit lantern, and when you reach the center, there is a lit candle. You light your lantern, and start moving on the path out. Along the way, you place your lantern . After a time, the spiral itself is illuminated from the lanterns placed along it. Together we notice the light growing, together we notice the fruit of so many going to the center and kindling light.
There is soup to share and tea to drink and a bonfire as well.
The Temple provides the lanterns, candles, spiral, etc. We also offer soup and tea. Bring yourself, bring something to share if you wish.
The spiral will begin at 5pm on Sunday evening and continue until 8 pm. It's like an open house. Come any time, and walk the spiral . Stay and visit, or not. We hope you will share in ceremony and hear the land singing.
